On Memorial Day Travis and I got to spend the whole day together just having fun, and he even let me pick what we did :)
After sleeping in we watched The Prince of Persia, which was actually a pretty good movie. Maybe it was just good because I had low expectations, or because Jake Gyllenhaal is really cute, but hey it was all right. Then we got ready and went to a late lunch at Applebees. I got the Wonton Tacos and they were suuuuper good! The Asian flavored pork was so sweet. And I got this Asian salad with a coconut dressing and it was pretty good too. Our table had this paper on it saying if the manager didn't come by to our table and ask how our meal and service was, we'd get a $10 giftcard, so when we saw that we got super excited and hoped the manager wouldn't come. Literally two minutes after we picked it up, she stopped by and ruined it. Drat.
After Applebees we headed to IKEA <333. Travis didn't even complain until we were almost out of the huge warehouse part - I was so proud of him. We there for two and a half hours! This is some of the stuff I liked...
This curtain rod is super cool because it has 3 different tracks so you can put certain curtain panels in front or behind other ones. It would be so much easier than installing 2 different curtain rods.
I love chestnut brown <3
Note to self: Remember that Travis loves wall vignettes like this.
Purple plates :)
I want this basket for our red kitchen.
Cobalt blue walls! This is really similar to the set up of our kitchen...hmm... |
Hanging lights like this above kitchen tables are so cool.
Copper lamp!
Kitchen rack! The stuff slides all across it
We bought this pillow!
We wanted this blanket too!
I'm obsessed with this bed! I am falling in love with burnt orange, or any orange. It's a new sensation...
3 panel curtains, a really cool concept.
Cool headboard where you can stick stuff.
This tall dresser had tear drop knobs that hung down and were fun to play with.
I love this wire framed bed and the fabric hanging behind it. Such an easy way to jazz up your bed!
Cool multi-colored blanket.
Red cabinet! ohmygoshohmygosh.
After we found our way out of the winding warehouse at IKEA and bought our cool couch pillow. We made our way to Salt Lake from Draper to explore the city and some shops and neighborhoods. On our way we saw a Suburban with a truck bed as a trailer..?
We got to 9th and 9th and found this AWESOME gelato place called Dolcetti's.
It was such a cute place, here are some pictures:
This GIANT turquoise frame was awesome and distressed and soo cool.
So many delicious flavors and we tried almost all of them.
Travis got pomegranate chocolate chip and I got chocolate barley and it was amazing!
This chandelier was actually made of a bunch of chandeliers all held together with twisted wires and decorated with tons of eclectic ornaments like peppers and pictures and crayons.
Huge chalkboard where anyone can write a message.
Cute red flowers painted on the blue wall.
Weird computer animated maps of Italy on the wall. The place was decorated with a mix of black, brown, and red couches and chairs.
This is how Travis eats his gelato...
Hahaha.
Our table was a huge shadowbox filled with nick-nacks.
All our sample spoons!
PURPLE lamp post!
Green bench :)
Haha goof...
Purple store front right next to Dolcetti's.
After that we drove up to what Travis calls The Avenues above Salt Lake where there are nice houses. This one was my FAVORITE. Grey house with a purple door (can you tell purple is my favorite color?)
But I guess this HUGE mansion was all right too....
We drove through the beautiful Emigration Valley (Immigration Valley? I'm not sure. Later I heard some guy say what it was, but I couldn't tell which one...). The hills are breathtaking.
Then we got to Ensign Park and hiked up to the very top of the hill that overlooks the whole valley. This is where Travis's brother proposed to his wife, and it's easy to see why. The view is magnificent!
The end.
